English Budgies
We raise English Budgies. Mostly they are raised for show & exhibition, but we have found the English to be much more docile than the Americans.
American budgies are what you see in the pet stores, they are much smaller than the English. Some, but very few pet stores have English available. I have heard & read that English do not live as long as the Americans, but we have not found this to be the case. Their life span is the same as the Americans. They are not anymore prone to tumors than americans. We have found that breeding budgies are more prone to tumors & short life spans.
We handfeed our budgies. Handfeeding them allows for the taming to go much further than just finger trained . Budgies, even handfed, are still hyper little birds but when they are handfed it allows you to have a budgie that is not as freaked out as the budgies you get from pet stores. These babies are already use to humans, they have been handled from 4-5 weeks old. Once home you have to continue to interact with them.

Budgies are the in the top 3 best talkers, they are ranked 3rd best talker in the parrot species.
Budgies are VERY active little birds, you could term them a bit 'hyper'.
